Skirt fleeces thoroughly. Remove heavy vegetable matter, dung tags, urine stain, caked mud, mats or cotting, short fiber (leg wool, belly wool, second cuts), and anything you do not want in your finished product. Our equipment will process fiber lengths from 2 1/2 to 6 inches.
Do not send fiber with excessive vegetable matter, burrs, wood (chips or shavings), gravel, hoof trimmings, bugs (insects of any kind - moths, lice, keds, etc.), mold or mildew, breaks, tenderness, cotting, matts, or felting.
Be sure to include identifying paperwork in every bag of fiber. Find the downloadable processing form on the "forms" page.
Minimum incoming weight per run is 8 pounds. If you have smaller amounts of similar fiber we can run them "back-to-back," or check with us about availability of fiber to blend with yours.
Drop-off and pick-up on Saturdays by appointment unless other arrangements are made. Payment for washing is required at drop-off. If you are shipping fiber to us, your place in the queue will be set when payment for washing is received.
Fiber left past 60 days becomes the property of Fiber First Mill, LLC
